About Self Help Nepal

Self Help Nepal was founded in 2004 with the dream to create a safe and nurturing environment where vulnerable children could flourish. Today, that dream has grown into a vibrant home supporting over 200 young lives.

The core mission is to provide not only shelter, food, and education, but also the emotional foundation and life skills every child deserves. Their philosophy centers on helping children become healthy, independent, and compassionate citizens, regardless of their background, religion, or gender.

Self Help Nepal

What makes Self Help Nepal unique is its commitment to long-term care, offering a continuum of support from early childhood through higher education and beyond.

A Day in the Life at Self Help Nepal

Life follows a structured daily routine to support the many children living together. Their day begins early at 5:30 am with hot drinks and study time, followed by sports or games, a shared breakfast of Dal Bhat, and then a school day at the Samakushi English Boarding School, where all subjects except Nepali are taught in English to prepare the children for future opportunities.

After school, the children relax briefly before resuming study time, with volunteers and older peers offering support. Evenings include more recreation, a communal dinner, and chores that teach responsibility, such as helping serve meals or care for younger children, before bedtime closes out the day.

Your Support in Action (Through Ancient Secrets Foundation)
