About Mountain Children’s Home
Mountain Children’s Home was lovingly founded in 2002 in the peaceful hillside village of Dadagaun, just above Kathmandu, Nepal. The home was created in response to the urgent need to care for orphaned and vulnerable children following political unrest, natural disasters, and economic hardship in the region.
From the beginning, its purpose has been to provide a safe, loving, and stable environment for children who had lost their families or the means to survive.

The Mountain Children’s Home mirrors a traditional Nepalese household, where everyone is seen, valued, and encouraged to grow with dignity
A Day in the Life at Mountain Children’s Home
Each day at Mountain Children’s Home begins with a warm breakfast and a one-hour walk down the mountain to school, where the children study subjects like English, math, and science. After classes, they return home for homework support and creative activities such as journalism, dance, and storytelling.
Evenings are filled with shared meals, quiet time, and connection. The children celebrate birthdays and festivals together, creating joyful memories in a home filled with care, laughter, and learning.
