About Maya Ghar
Maya Ghar was founded in 2006 by Maya Gurung, a compassionate humanitarian who opened her home to girls abandoned by society. The name means “Home of Love” and reflects the family atmosphere where girls are nurtured through shared meals, celebrations, and daily care. The goal is to provide a safe space where they can grow, learn, and dream.
The home supports orphaned and abandoned girls, many with traumatic pasts. With emotional care, education, and strong values, Maya Ghar offers not just shelter but a real chance at a brighter future.

A Day in the Life at Maya Ghar
A typical day at Maya Ghar begins with early morning chores, followed by a nutritious breakfast and school. After classes, the girls return home to a structured environment of study, play, and support. Evenings are filled with shared meals, stories, and spiritual reflection.
Special days are joyfully celebrated such as Dashain, Tihar, birthdays, and school milestones. These occasions allow the girls to dress up, sing, and feel cherished. Maya Ghar also encourages extracurricular activities like dance, art, and gardening to nurture self-expression and confidence.
